Craig Adelman joined AMCAL Multi-housing, Inc. in March of 2011, and has been working in
multifamily housing development since 1992. Prior to joining AMCAL, Mr. Adelman served as the Deputy Director of the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing under Gavin Newsom, managing numerous real estate and policy activities, chief among them HOPE SF; San Francisco’s bold initiative to transform distressed public housing into vibrant, mixed-income communities. Mr. Adelman was integrally involved in all financing, real estate, infrastructure, design, and planning components of the program, while also shaping and developing housing policy at the local, state, and federal levels.

Prior to joining the Mayor’s team, Mr. Adelman served as Vice President of Affordable Housing for AF Evans Development, developing multifamily affordable, mixed-income, mixed-use, rental and ownership housing throughout the West Coast.

Mr. Adelman began his career as a construction administrator before joining Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corp. as a project manager and later Associate Housing Director. In his ten years at TNDC, Mr. Adelman participated in the development of over 1,200 housing units, 30,000 feet of commercial space and numerous community planning efforts in San Francisco. After TNDC, Mr. Adelman was Vice President with Bank of America’s Community Development Banking Group. Mr. Adelman holds a BA in Architecture from UC Berkeley and is former chairman of the board of directors for Conard House, a San Francisco nonprofit organization that develops supportive housing and resources to help low income people self-manage mentalillness.
