AMCAL has partnered with the local community on several apartments in Los Angeles. At the Casa de Angeles apartments, AMCAL partnered with YouthBuild to give youths from south Los Angeles training in construction. The Watts Labor Action Committee and Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center were also partners in the program, which prepares youths to gain construction certifications, which can lead to future jobs.
At the Montecito Terraces senior apartments and Mosaic intergenerational apartments in Los Angeles, AMCAL partnered with PVJobs to give at-risk adults training in construction. Adults, who may have histories of substance abuse, poverty and criminal records, join the local union and gain hands-on experience and skills for full-time jobs in the industry.
