Cadence is part of an emerging urban residential area next to the South Hayward BART Station. The 2.9-ac. redevelopment site replaces a parking lot with 206 Class A luxury apartments (71 dua). The development is a partnership with JMJ Development and Eden Housing, which will provide affordable housing on an adjacent parcel. BART is participating with a land swap to create a pocket park.
Construction is four levels of Type V with 350 spaces of parking in an at-grade podium. The design is a contemporary exterior.
Funding is via a $50,000,000 HUD 221-d-4 loan with ACRE Capital. The State of California is providing a $9,800,000 transit-oriented development grant.
The site is located near a BART station, Valle Vista Park, Chavez E.S., Tennyson H.S., shopping and churches.
Amenities include a community room , pool, barbecue area, children’s playground and bicycle storage.
Construction began in Mar. 2015.
