La Prensa Libre Apartments

The La Prensa Libre Apartments is a 4-story 105-unit 100% affordable development at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Los Angeles Street, adjacent to the Santee Education Complex.

AMCAL Multi-Housing Inc. developed the community in partnership with Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD), a local community-based nonprofit that specializes in youth development programs, workforce and economic development, affordable housing development, and housing and supportive services.

Of the 105 units, 41 are one-bedroom apartments, 34 are two-bedroom apartments, and 28 are three-bedroom apartment for rent to households earning up to 60% of Area Median Income (AMI), $67,560 for a family of four, plus an additional 2 two-bedroom apartments are set aside for on-site managers.  The development includes 25 apartments for transition age youth between the ages of 18-24 earning up to 30% of AMI, which have project-based vouchers from the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) and intensive case management services from CRCD. CRCD will also operate a workforce development center and café on the ground floor that will be open to the public and serve the local community.
