Vista del Rio is located adjacent to the Riverview Golf Course and adds much-needed housing for persons with physical and developmental disabilities in Orange County.
The 2.7-ac. site includes 41 special needs apartments (15 dua), and the design is a traditional Craftsman to complement with this historic section of Santa Ana. The site is located near an OCTA bus line, Park, UCI Medical Center and a grocery market.
An allocation of $6,418,000 in 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits was awarded in 2011. The City funded $5,000,000 via RDA and HOME funds. Social services are provided by Community Housing Resources.
The site plan provides two classrooms for therapy sessions. The California Dept. of Rehabilitation provides funding for rehabilitation for residents with physical impairments, and the Regional Center of Orange County provides funding for mental health counseling for residents with developmental disabilities.
Construction is two levels of Type V with 52 spaces of surface parking. Amenities include a large community room with a kitchen, classrooms, courtyard with fountain, and meditation garden.
